Dr. James M. Polo
Dr. James Polo graduated from the United States Naval Academy and attended the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, earning a Doctorate of Medicine. He completed Dermatology Residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. He was stationed as a Dermatologist at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune for seven years. During that time, he served as Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Specialty Advisor to the Navy Surgeon General. Dr. Polo is Board Certified in Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a member, and a Fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery.
Dr. Sean J. Murphy
Dr. Sean Murphy graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1992 and earned his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. He completed his Dermatology Residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Prior to joining Dermatology Associates of Coastal Carolina he was Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. Dr. Murphy is Board Certified in Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a member of the American Society for MOHS Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the North Carolina Dermatology Association.
Dr. Scott McClellan
Dr. Scott McClellan is the primary provider for our Kinston office. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1993 and Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed Dermatology Residency at Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California and Dermatopathology Fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. McClellan is Board Certified in Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Susannah McClain
Dr. Susannah McClain graduated summa cum laude from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana and obtained her medical degree from The Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her Dermatology residency in Baltimore, Maryland where she was chosen to serve as the Chief Resident at the University of Maryland. During that time, she also trained at The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. McClain also served as a volunteer clinical instructor at the University of Maryland following completion of her residency and is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology. She moved to North Carolina in 2012 with her husband, who is currently stationed at the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune.
Cynthia A. Polo, M.D.
Dr. Cynthia Polo staffs the Cosmetic Dermatology and Skin Rejuvenation Center. A graduate of Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania, she graduated medical school at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Polo has been trained in non-invasive cosmetic procedures and laser surgery and works together with all of our physicians in order to seamlessly integrate cosmetic dermatology with the patient’s medical and surgical skincare.
Physician Assistant, Kimberly Rikard
Kim is a certified Physician Assistant who graduated from East Carolina University and Duke University with a B.S. in Physician Assistant Studies and a Masters in Health Sciences in 2001. Since that time she has worked in family practice as well as orthopedics before joining Dermatology Associates of Coastal Carolina in December 2009. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Physician Assistant, Catherine Pollard
Catherine Pollard graduated summa cum laude from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2006 with a B.S. in Biology. She attended the University of Alabama Birmingham Surgical Physician Assistants Program in Birmingham, Alabama, earning her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies in 2009. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, The Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She moved to New Bern in January of 2010 with her husband who is stationed at MCAS Cherry Point and joined Dermatology Associates of Coastal Carolina in March of 2010.
